SARASOTA, FL – August 12, 2002 - BillingNetwork, a provider of medical billing solutions and services for the healthcare industry, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted BillingNetwork U.S. Patent #6,374,229 for its "Integrated Internet facilitated billing, data processing and communication system." The issuance of this patent covers the company's software-as-a-service technology and subscription-based business model for managing the electronic transfer of billing data and information via browser or thin client over the Internet.

United States Patent 6,374,229 for the "Integrated Internet facilitated billing, data processing and communication system" was issued on April 16, 2002.

According to the patent, BillingNetwork has devised a system and method for the secure and confidential delivery of data and information from a PC user over the Internet for the purposes of medical billing. The patent encompasses the electronic interconnections between database servers and a plurality of subscribers, each of which gain secure access into a server via a modem and an Internet service provider (ISP). Examples of benefits include the production of billing invoices and statements for each subscriber, real-time viewing, searching, and sorting of billing data, and a dramatic increase in the percentage of claims approved upon initial submission.
